Yes, I am thankful that I have the opportunity to participate in choosing my government - a right that is denied to so many around the world. I have a colleague originally from Australia - do you know you are required to vote in Australia, or you get fined?! I don't like the idea of being forced to do anything, but I do like the idea of everyone participating. So ....if you haven't voted yet - go, get thyself to the polling place!

ReplyDeleteWhen I don't think about it, it's easy to take voting and the resulting peaceful transfer of power for granted.
ReplyDeleteBut when I pause and reflect on how many elections are shams or other places where there isn't even voting, I am bowled over by the weight of our good fortune.
